Welcome to Bell class, Year 1.
Taught every day by Mrs Bickerton, supported by Mrs Hooker and Mrs Shanahan.Â
We aim to develop a nurturing and safe environment where children are encouraged to open their minds to the world through high class quality first teaching and the nature of learning through play. It is our hope that during your child's time in year 1 they learn to see their full potential and take that self belief with them through their school journey and into their future lives.Â

Daily we are busy shaping little minds for the future, developing fundamental reading and writing skills alongside core mathematical knowledge.
We focus on early reading skills through the consistent teaching of phonics througout EYFS and KS1 using little wandle.Â
In writing we delve into the complex nature of sentences ensuring children have a solid understanding of how to write a 'good sentence' using punctuation and finger spaces correctly whilst keeping our writing neat and legible.
Throughout the year in maths we build up to numbers to 100, looking at the values of tens and ones, ordering and sequencing numbers and looking at shape and space.Â
We also explore a wider curriculum learning about the world around us in the present and the past and understanding the role we can play in our local and global communities as we grow.Â
