Welcome to Globe Class.
We are Year 3 and Mrs Wood teaches us every day.
In our class we work hard to follow our class agreement and our School Christian values of compassion, community, perseverance, respect, trust and love. As year 3s we are beginning to develop independence as learners and try to look for opportunities to support our own learning. We will be supported to make sure that we have everything we need for our learning and encouraged to use the resources in the classroom when we need them.
In Globe, we have a wide and interesting curriculum that helps foster our love of learning. We really enjoy being hands-on scientists and are encouraged to ask lots of questions. We can then discover the answers to these questions by planning, setting up and carrying out investigations. In other areas of the curriculum, we enjoy the practical side of learning and having lots of opportunities to discuss our ideas with our classmates. We know that when learning new things, two brains working together is better than one!
In Globe, we love reading and regularly have time to enjoy reading books. We have lots of opportunities to choose different books from different places, such as the school library, the class book corner, the town library and our special ‘Buzz Books’ that link to our class book. The class book is a story that Mrs Wood reads to us every day. We really enjoy this time together as a class and can discuss what is happening and predict what might happen next. Rich book talk is really important to us as learners.
Globe is a happy place to be, and we are always working to be the best we can be.
We thought that it would be helpful to let you know the Globe class expectations.
·      School starts at 8.55am so please can you ensure that your child is in school at this timeÂ
·      Children must have the correct PE kit in school every day. If this comes into school on the first day of term in a labelled bag then it can be left in their locker for washing at half term.
·      Reading is an important part of the curriculum and we encourage the children to read to an adult at home at least three times a week.
·      Children will be expected to practise their times tables using TTRock Stars. They will also need to complete their spelling homework on Spelling Shed. User names and passwords will be provided for each child and support will be available in school to support them in using these websites.
·      Toys/collector cards/keyrings/jewellery - Children should not bring any of these items to school as they can cause distractions and sometimes arguments. If it is deemed, by our SENDCo, that your child would benefit from some specific equipment in class, this will be approved and provided by Mr Curtis. No other toys, fidgets or equipment should be brought to school.
·      The school day ends at 3.20pm so please can children be picked up promptly on the bottom playground.
